Week 1 Game Preview: Susquehanna TWP

The West York Bulldogs will open their season at home on Friday, August 28th by welcoming the Susquehanna Township Indians to the Dog Pound for what should be an exciting early season matchup.
The Bulldogs finished 10-2 last year, earning the 2 seed in District 3 (4A) playoffs, where they lost to Twin Valley in the Semi-Final round. The Indians finished 12-1 earning the 1 seed in District 3 (4A) playoffs, losing in the District Final to Twin Valley. Both teams enter the game with plenty of talent on both sides of the football, including several players who have already caught the attention of college programs.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Susquehanna Township
Susquehanna Township brings a talented group into West York, headlined by senior Jasani Brown (#4). Brown is a versatile player who contributes at both quarterback and free safety and already holds multiple Division I offers. His ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball will make him one of the Bulldogs biggest players to keep an eye on.
The Indians also have a major Division I commitment in senior linebacker Rick Brown (#0), who is committed to West Virginia. Brown's presence in the middle of the defense gives Susquehanna Township an experienced and physical player to build around.
Sophomore linebacker Titus Brown (#33) is another player to watch for the Indians. Holding offers from West Virginia and Temple despite still having multiple seasons of high school football ahead of him makes him someone to watch each week.
On offense, senior Raymond Sweatt (#1) will be a player to watch at wide receiver, while sophomore Cael Fiedt (#3) provides another option at quarterback.
Up front, junior Gaige LeVier (#70) brings versatility along the offensive and defensive lines. The Indians also feature freshman wide receiver Alano Muniz-Ramsey (#14) and senior athlete Steph Malette (#7), giving Susquehanna Township several different ways to attack the Bulldogs.
West York
West York will counter with a talented roster of its own.
The Bulldogs will be led by junior quarterback Jensen Ferber (#10), one of the key pieces of West York's offense. Ferber enters the season with plenty of expectations and will be at the center of the Bulldogs' offensive attack.
One of the biggest playmakers to watch is junior Tayvon Thomas (#0). Thomas is a dynamic athlete who can make an impact at both wide receiver and defensive back. His ability to create plays in space and contribute on both sides of the football makes him one of West York's most dangerous weapons.
Junior Jamen Garnett (#11) is another name that should be circled. Garnett lines up at tight end and defensive end and brings the physicality and big play ability for the Bulldogs’.
One of the Bulldogs' biggest defensive weapons is senior Julius Fuentes Bream (#7), a free safety who is committed to Kent State. His experience and ability in the secondary could be especially important against a Susquehanna Township offense that features several dangerous skill players.
West York also has senior Nasir Shabazz Scott (#6), who plays both linebacker and running back and holds an offer from Thiel. His ability to contribute on both sides of the ball adds another dimension to the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs also have several juniors who could make an impact, including Janziel Torres (#13) at defensive back and wide receiver, Aidan Wagner (#8) at running back and free safety, and Logan Boyer (#57) at defensive end.
A key loss of Senior linebacker Daegan Trostel (#1) due to injury will for sure have an impact on this game. The senior, who received an offer to Dickinson College, was the anchor in the middle for the Bulldogs defense. It will be interesting to see how Coach Miller and the Bulldogs adjust to not having Trostel in this high-powered match up.
A Matchup Filled With Talent
With college level talent scattered throughout both rosters, Friday night's game should provide an early test for both programs.
For West York, containing Susquehanna Township's dynamic skill players will be a major priority. The Bulldogs will need strong play from their linebackers and secondary, particularly with players like Jasani Brown capable of creating plays in multiple ways.
On the other side, Susquehanna Township will have to account for a West York defense featuring committed and recruited players such as Fuentes Bream and Nasir Shabazz-Scott, while also trying to slow down the Bulldogs' powerful offense.
Both teams are coming off impressive 2025 seasons in District 3 Class 4A. Susquehanna Township entered the postseason as the No. 1 seed, while West York earned the No. 2 seed, setting the stage for a matchup between two of the top programs in the classification.
With both programs bringing back plenty of talent, Friday night's matchup has all the makings of an early season statement game.
Kickoff is set for Friday, August 28, at 7:00 P.M. at West York High School, as the West York Bulldogs welcome Susquehanna Township for a highly anticipated matchup featuring plenty of talent on both sides of the field.
